The Project:
Out of Thyme! was created as a project for the OSU 2019 Summer Hackathon with the theme being "Time". We wanted to create a
web application for cooking that made the actual execution of a recipe easier. To save each user time, the recipe directions would display in
an easy-to-manage list, and timers would be set automatically for the user.
The Authors:
Karen Berba: Hi, I’m Karen! After 3 years in the pharmacy field, I decided to change careers and go back to school to pursue my passion for computer science. When I’m not in school, I’m currently devouring all books and resources related to UX, IxD, HCI, and Product Design. This is my second hackathon, and have enjoyed my time learning more about Javascript! It’s also quite fun learning and building with other people who bring a lot of knowledge, enthusiasm and creativity to the table!
Mae LaPresta: Greetings! My name is Mae and I'm currently starting my 3rd quarter in OSU's ecampus CS program. I recently left my role as an EE at a steel manufacturing facility to pursue programming full time, and I am really enjoying every second. This is my first Hackathon, and I've really enjoyed being able to create something with my peers and see the process through from start to finish. I have been able to learn so much and explore different technologies, that I'm already searching for the next one to participate in!
Elizabeth Tackett: Hi, I’m Elizabeth! This was my first time participating in a Hackathon. I have spent several years dabbling in web development, but I’m a relatively new Computer Science student. I joined Beaverhacks 2019 in order to gain experience collaborating with others, put my web dev skills into practice, and build something new! Overall, this was a great experience; I had a fun time learning about Google Firebase, practicing a collaborative git workflow, and brushing up on my JavaScript.
Jay Lin: Hey I'm Jay! At the time of this project, I had recently left my Operations role at Uber ATG, where I worked on Uber's
Autonomous Vehicle Project. After working so closely with engineers and learning how to code myself, I realized that Computer Science
was my passion. I decided to study Computer Science intensively for the next few months and found myself participating in two Hackathons (OSU Summer 2019, NYC Developer Week).
I joined to create something new and work directly my peers at OSU. I was able to contribute mostly on the front-end layout/styling of this project.
This was my second Hackathon and I had a blast creating this web app with our team. I hope you enjoy the app!
